How do stairs affect a hallway calculation?
A stairwell wall has a sloped top edge — measure to the tallest point on that wall, the same approach as a sloped bedroom ceiling, and trim the excess on shorter strips.
Is one roll ever enough for a whole hallway?
Rarely — hallways are long even though they're narrow, so expect a roll count closer to a mid-size room than the floor area alone would suggest.
Do doors and cupboards really make that much difference in a hallway?
Yes — hallways typically have more doors per metre of wall than any other room in the house, so subtracting each one properly can bring the estimate down noticeably compared with treating the hallway as an unbroken wall run. Walk the hallway and note every door, including built-in cupboards, before you measure.
