Treat a chimney breast as extra wall length, and alcoves either side as their own short strips — measure each separately for the most accurate total.
Open-plan spaces
If your living room opens into a hallway or kitchen, decide where the wallpaper will logically end and only measure that section.
Larger rooms benefit from a buffer roll
On bigger jobs, order slightly more than the exact estimate to cover pattern-matching waste across many more strips than a small room needs.
