Pattern repeat: the number most free calculators skip

A pattern repeat adds waste to every strip: the first strip is cut to ceiling height, and each subsequent strip needs extra length trimmed from the top to align the design with the previous strip. On a 64 cm repeat, that extra length is up to 64 cm per strip — more than a quarter of a strip from a standard 10 m roll. A free calculator that doesn't ask for the repeat distance is not actually calculating for patterned paper; it is giving you the plain-paper count and leaving you to guess the rest.

Custom roll sizes: why they matter

Wide-format papers — 90 cm, 100 cm, or wider — need fewer strips per wall than a standard 53 cm roll, but if the calculator assumes 53 cm, the strip count will be too high and the roll count inflated. Short rolls, such as 8 m or 9 m, yield fewer strips per roll, so the calculator needs the real length.
